Since 1997, the Boticário Group Foundation for Nature Protection has organized the biennial Brazilian Congress on Protected Areas (CBUC), providing a forum for experts from around Brazil and around the world to explore key issues surrounding protected areas. In 2012, the congress will be held from 23 to 27 September in Natal, on Brazil's northeastern coast.
The deadline for submitting papers was April, 15 th .

VII CBUC - GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING PAPERS
1. General information
1.1. – Accepted papers will be published in the congress proceedings (CD format) in a sequence that reflects the organization of the event;
1.2. – At least one author of accepted papers must be registered for the congress and must present the paper on the day and hour established by the organizers. It is possible to register for the congress after papers have been accepted. Enrollment fees will not be refunded for authors whose papers are not accepted. There is no limit to the number of authors in the paper;
1.3. – Papers should treat topics involving the main themes on Protected Areas: 1. Planning and management; 2. Sustainability strategies; 3. Public policy; 4. Environmental services and economic valuation; and 5. Conservation biology;
1.4 – Papers must be submitted by filling out an online form. The form includes the following sections: Title, Abstract, Structure (Introduction; Materials and Methods; Results and Discussion; Conclusions; Acknowledgements), Bibliography, and Attachments. When adding information to each field, authors may not exceed the established limits on number of characters, according to the table bellow;

1.5. – For a paper to be accepted, it must satisfy items 1.3 and 1.4 and should not include any identification of authorship in the body of the paper;
1.6. – When submitting a paper authors should provide author information (registration data, ID, address, e-mail, etc.) in the Authors field;
1.7 – Papers must be submitted via the link available on the Congress website no later than 11:59 P.M. April 15, 2012. Papers should be submitted by the main author, who must log in first via the following link: http://sisger.fbpn.org.br/Site/home/login.aspx;
1.8 – Authors are advised to keep the originals of all materials sent.
2. Formatting
2.1 – After a paper is submitted, its status will be shown as in review. The main author must save a digital copy of the paper via the link view and print paper;
2.2 – TABLES and CHARTS: To facilitate the formatting process, authors should indicate where each table should appear in the body of the text. Tables and charts must be uploaded to the Tables and Charts TAB in PDF format. Up to four tables are allowed, and each file should be less than 500k. We suggest that the tables and charts mentioned in the body of the text be uploaded in numerical sequence and their titles included at the top of each file;
2.3 FIGURES: As with tables, authors should indicate where each figure should appear in the body of the text. Figures must be sent in JPEG format. Up to four figures are allowed, and each file should be less than 500k. Figures should be sequentially numbered and their titles included in the bottom of the figure. In the case of photographs or previously published figures, the source of the figure should be indicated. Captions should be self-explanatory;
2.4 – BODY: The title of the paper should be written in CAPS. The text should be structured into the following sections: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgments, and References;
2.5 – REFERENCES: References must be presented after the Conclusion section, in the following format:

2.6 – Text and terms in other languages: Use italic only in case of scientific names (for instance, Eugenia involucrata), or of words in Latin or a language different from that used in the manuscript (for instance, the use of Portuguese words in an English text – “pressure by the sem terra movement”).
